When it's released.
No date for release has yet been set, but it's expected in the scond half of the year. My guess (and it's only a guess) is around October.

Somewhere I read that August 31 is the target date, but how many times have we heard about a target date? :-}

We should really get a sweepstake going :op
I reckon it'll be just in time for Christmas sales... so I'm saying the same sort of time as R2 beta finished... around 10th December-20th, just in time for all those new computers at Christmas :o)

Exactly why it is called a Target Date - something to shoot at (or if your the media - to shoot at!

If not later. I have a feeling about this by seeing the present Beta and the long stall of the next CTP release

Nah, I'd put my money on October first. Too many people buy computers for Christmas. Can you imagine someone going out and buying their spouse or kids a new computer on December 10 or 20? I mean, buying a computer is pretty much a planned event, so they'd need more time than 5 to 15 days.
Well, I would anyway. :-} And Microsoft wants maximum sales during the Christmas season, which is another reason to release well before December.

PCs will be available in September with Vista I believe, and the launch of the product world wide will be in October, they are basically playing off XP. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

It's probably going to be released on December 1st.

do u think i will be able to use it with one of my computers that i already have?
i would like to be able to do a dual boot with it on my zd8000 between xp and vista.
or i would like to use it on my evo n600c. or on one of my other computers.
at one point i installed xp on a 10 year old laptop that was made for 95/nt. i got xp working on it perfectly. i got that laptop working better then any current day pc. that was like 2 years ago. i want to do the same with vista.
on another pc i merged xp and 2000. i had 2 version of the merge. i made it before xp sp2 came out. i think i would like to kinda merge xo, vista and 2000 together. i'll put the best of all the OSs into one. in my merge i put xp as the main OS in the 2nd version. in the 1st version it worked more like a dual boot but yet a lot differenly. v2 of the more is more like a hotfix installer style. i also took stuff from the other OSs as well.

Doesn't make any difference - when it's as close to a release as they will be and have been, they'll be working 24/7 on shifts until it's done. Usually the last few weeks especially... it could even be RTM'd on a Sunday if necessary.
